Lectures and master classes by distinguished guest artists

Excursions in the picturesque Périgord region

Performances will be held throughout the surrounding region of Aquitaine, in the beautiful Dordogne valley

Location

Château Les Jouandis

The Château Les Jouandis, in the town of Ste. Sabine Born, will be the home of L’Art du Chant Français 2017. It is located in the ancient county of Périgord in southwest France, near the Dordogne river in the region of Aquitaine. It is considered to be of the most beautiful regions in France and said to be home to 1001 Castles. It is also a region of medieval towns and villages, scenic and peaceful countryside and prehistoric caves located between the Loire valley and the Pyrenees.

The town of Ste. Sabine Born is a short drive from the Château, and performances and excursions will take place in the historic Périgord region. Our faculty and our hosts at the Château are enthusiastic about the cultural exchange that takes place between the residents of this beautiful region and the international group of young musicians participating in L’Art du Chant Français.

Staying there

Accommodations

Accommodations and three meals per day are included in the program fee. All participants and faculty members will stay at the 18th century Château Les Jouandis, situated on the border of the “purple Périgord”, famous for its vineyards, its castles and its historic sites. For a detailed view of the accomodations, visit: www.lesjouandis.com

The large bedrooms will accommodate 2 participants and have shared bathrooms. Decisions about roommate assignments will be made by late April. If you have a request for a specific roommate, please let us know and we will be glad to try to accommodate your request.

The summer of 2017 will mark the sixth season of L’Art du Chant Français. With the presence of Michel Sénéchal, we experience a direct lineage to the masters of French music of the 19th and 20th centuries.

“The French sing more through their words than through their music. The unique strength of French song is in the music of the words, the painting of words.” Michel Sénéchal
