CLA France

CLA France, is a two-and-a-half-week summer training experience for emerging artists in the Périgord region of southwest France. CLA France is dedicated to exploring French opéra and chanson with native teachers in all its complexity, nuance, and beauty.

France is CLA’s most intimate program, made up of sixteen singers, three pianists, and four teaching artists. Based in a stunning new home for 2024, CLA Artists and faculty reside together in the French countryside and are immersed under one roof in the magic of French music, language, and culture.

CLA Italy

Nestled in the charming and idyllic town of Novafeltria, CLA Italy is a two-and-a-half-week summer training program with native teachers that is dedicated to exploring the precision, artistry, and enchantment of bel canto repertoire.

Italy is CLA’s oldest and largest program, originally launching in 2009. With twenty-six singers, six to eight pianists, and eight teaching artists, the daily schedules and concert programs are packed with thrilling work and expansive repertoire. CLA Artists and faculty experience the art of Italian slow living among the locals of Novafeltria while immersing themselves in Italian opera and song.

CLA Berkshires

CLA Berkshires is a two-week U.S.-based training experience devoted to mastering the artistry and complexity of Mozart’s Italian operas. The breathtaking beauty of the Berkshires inspires artists as they delve into the nuances of Mozart recitativo, arias, and ensemble pieces.

With twenty-six singers, six pianists, and five teaching artists, this retreat-like program prides itself on creating a tight-knit community of empowered growth and development in the breathtaking mountains of the Berkshires. With native Italian teachers, CLA’s emerging artists are surrounded by first-hand culture, history, and language right here in the U.S.

CLA is excited to share this next journey of the 2024 Summer Programs and welcome new artists into the CLA community. The 2024 Concert Season dates will be announced soon. Stay tuned for information on how to reserve your seat at these spectacular events.

Additionally, 2024 Named Programs Grants are open! If you wish to give the gift of music to these inspiring emerging artists, please contact CLA’s executive director, John Viscardi at johnviscardi@classiclyricarts.org.

CLA’s mission is to inspire emerging opera singers to expand their artistic potential by teaching through the prism of language, culture, and history. Already brimming with excitement for Summer 2024, CLA is ever grateful to its community for continuing to be a part of the emerging artist’s journeys.

A presto,

The CLA Team
