Congratulations to CLA Italy alumnus, Luke Sutliff, who recently made his debut with the Canadian Opera Company (COC) as Figaro in Rossini’s Barbiere di Siviglia.
Figaro is quickly becoming a signature role for Luke. Alongside his debut with the COC, he has also performed the role at Central City Opera and covered the role with the Nashville Symphony. Additionally, Luke brought the character to life at the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, singing the aria Largo al Factotum.
Luke is emerging as a major young baritone, earning top prizes at the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition and Operalia, along with significant recognition from the Richard Tucker Foundation. A former Houston Grand Opera Studio artist, he now debuts with major companies including Santa Fe Opera, the Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, and the Canadian Opera Company.
This Fall, Luke also made his debut with the Lyric Opera of Chicago, performing the role of Silvo in Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci. His rise in the opera industry reflects exceptional artistry shaped early at CLA.
